Notice of Dragon Boat Festival

Dear Colleagues:

We are writing to inform you that this year we will be celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival from June 9 to June 12, 2016.  The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office will be closed during the said period.  All deadlines falling during the period will be automatically extended to June 13 (Mon.), 2016.  However, kindly note that June 4 (Sat.) will be a working day in Taiwan in observation of the long holidays.  Any deadline for Taiwan applications falling on June 4 will NOT be postponed.

Incidentally, the State Intellectual Property Office and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce Trademark Office of P.R. China will be also temporarily closed from June 9 to June 11, 2016.  All deadlines falling during the period will be automatically extended to June 12 (Sun.), 2016, the working day in observation of the long holidays.  Any deadlines for Chinese TRADEMARK applications falling on June 12 (Sun.), 2016 will NOT be postponed.  However, the deadlines for Chinese patent applications falling during the said day remain to the next working day, that is, June 13 (Mon.).

Incidentally, the Hong Kong Patent Department will be temporarily closed on June 9, 2016.  All deadlines falling during this period will be automatically extended to June 10, 2016. 

For your information, our office is closed from June 9 to June 12, 2016, and we will also resume normal business operation on June 13 (Mon.), 2016.  Therefore, we would appreciate if all urgent cases and instructions are received no later than May 25, 2016.   Furthermore, as our office is closed on June 10, 2016, we will not be able to attend to any deadlines falling on June 10, 2016.  Thus, please ensure that instructions for Hong Kong matters due on June 10, 2016 are provided prior to June 9, 2016.
