Notice of Chinese New Year Holidays

Dear Colleagues:

We are writing to inform you that this year we will be celebrating the Chinese New Year from January 23 to January 29, 2020. The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office will be closed during the said period. All deadlines falling during the period will be automatically extended to January 30, 2020.(Thur.) However, kindly note that February 15, 2020 (Sat.) will be a working day in Taiwan to accommodate the extended holidays. Any deadlines for Taiwan applications falling on February 15, 2020 will NOT be postponed.

Incidentally, the China National Intellectual Property Administration, PRC (CNIPA) will be also temporarily closed from January 24 to January 30, 2020. All deadlines falling during the period will be automatically extended to January 31, 2020(Fri.). However, January 19 & February 1 will be working days in China. The trademark-related deadlines fall on January 19 & February 1 can NOT be extended, though the patent-related deadlines can.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Patent Department will be temporarily closed from January 25 to January 28, 2020. All deadlines falling during this period will be automatically extended to January 29(Wed.), 2020. Nevertheless, our office is closed from January 23 to January 29, 2020, and we will not resume normal business operation until January 30 (Thur.), 2020.

Therefore, we would appreciate if all urgent cases and instructions are received no later than January 16, 2020.
